The Apple Blossom Car Festival was founded in 2025 upon the sacred premise that automobiles deserve to be washed beneath the fleeting canopy of spring blossoms — and that this act, shared among friends, constitutes something approaching the divine.
Held annually at The Official Grounds at The Holmes-stead, the Festival draws together a distinguished gathering of vehicles and their proprietors for an afternoon of power washing, sudding, detailing, and standing around looking at the results with quiet satisfaction.
The apple tree — ancient, gnarled, and extraordinarily cooperative — serves as both witness and silent co-host. Petals may land on your car. This is considered an honor.
The archival record of past Festivals is being curated and will be published in due course. In the meantime, imagine: cars, suds, a tree.
Two years. Two washes. One tree. The Second Annual Apple Blossom Car Festival arrives with the quiet confidence of an institution that has something still to prove — and intends to prove it, again, with a garden hose and a bucket of suds.
What began as a spontaneous suggestion — "we should wash the cars under Austin's apple tree" — was elevated, through sheer force of collective enthusiasm, into an institution. The Inaugural Festival established the core traditions: the hose, the suds, the tree, the standing around looking satisfied afterward. A legend was born.
Attendance at the Apple Blossom Car Festival is by registration only. Please complete the form below to formally declare your vehicle and your intentions. Space at the Grounds is limited by the size of Austin's driveway.
